This is the introduction episode to the series 'Under the Crossed Swords.' In this series we hear the stories and experiences of the Soldier Sailors of the Army's Navy. Where the men still survive we hear some of the story from their own mouths.

In this series we tell the stories and biographies of the ‘soldier sailors’ of the Royal Army Service Corps, Water Transport division. The timelines involved take us from the last couple of years of WW2 right up the 1970s. The events recalled include, the Suez Crisis, The Borneo Confrontation, British Tactical Missile tests and much more. These men served bravely and diligently in the ‘army’s navy’ defending Great Britain’s interests at home and abroad under their glorious Crossed Swords ensign. It’s an incredible story and one rarely told.
